Water Quality Training Course
UNESCO Chair in Women, Science and Technology at Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) in collaboration with the Training Unit of Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Khartoum State organized a training course in the field of water quality. The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mahir Salih, addressed the opening session and asserted on the necessity to focus on drinking water and rainwater harvesting to be used in agricultural projects. He stressed on the need to purify water to become drinkable and to reduce various water borne diseases. He added that women in the rural areas suffer a lot in the process of bringing water, especially rainwater, so attention must be given in educating them about the seriousness of unhealthy water and to innovate new methods of rainwater harvesting.
